Lily’s Bistro Debuts New Summer Menu!

Lily’s Bistro Debuts New Summer Menu Featuring Inventive New Dishes and the Return of Last Year’s Favorites

You know that great friend that moved away? The one who you used to spend every waking moment with but now you may not speak to as much as you used too? Then one day they show up on your door step, out of the blue, and it’s like they never left. Well, Lily’s Bistro, in the Oregon District, is debuting their new summer menu and it feels very similar. Only, your old menu favorites happen to be bringing along a bunch of great new friends too! “A meal should be an experience of a place and time” Emily Mendenhall, Lily’s Manager, said. “That’s why we change our menu seasonally. Summer in Ohio tastes like grilled peaches and watermelon salad. It’s sitting on patios drinking sparkling rosé and hanging out with friends,” she continued.

Grilled Peaches

So what exactly goes into creating a new menu? We asked Mariah Gahagan, Lily’s executive chef, to describe the process. “It’s always exciting… and stressful… when menu change comes, but then one of our local farmers walks in with a crate of the best tomatoes, corn or basil you’ve ever seen and everything starts to fall into place.” she said. “Working with local vendors can be very inspiring and help to create dishes that are relevant to the season and climate we live in,” she continued.

Zucchini Sticks

While looking at the menu we noticed that it doesn’t have the standard “appetizer, entree, dessert” layout. “We prefer to structure our menu a little differently under the title’s snackable, shareable, and sizable to cater to the modern diner’s interest in tasting menus. When I go out to eat I enjoy tasting and trying many different items.” Mendenhall said. “It’s easy for our diners to create a full meal out of snacks and shareable items, or to go the traditional route by ordering an entree” she continued. They also offer a three course prix fixe menu every Friday and Saturday night.

fish and chips

For those interested in trying Lily’s Bistro’s new summer menu, it is available Tuesday through Saturday evening. Some stand-out items on the new menu are the fish and chips served with red eye aioli and malt vinegar, fried, pickled zucchini sticks served with raita, sea scallops with sweet corn succotash and basil milk, and grilled peaches stuffed with almonds and goat cheese and drizzled with a balsamic reduction.
