A once blighted property near downtown is going to be the site of an expansion for a recycling business later this year.
Franklin Iron and Metal Corp. plans to buy the former industrial property at 1400 E. First St. — down the street from its own facilities — and construct a new building there.
The company, which buys and recycles scrap metals and other components, plans to add five to eight new jobs.
